2월 중순이 되면 단 며칠 간 아키타현의 요코테(横手）라는 작고 사람의 왕래가 드문 도시에는 눈으로 집(雪家）을
   만들어서 축제를 벌린다.  이 축제의 이름이 Kamakura Festival이다. 　(鎌倉　祭り)

      다음은 Kamakura Festival을 알리는 고등학교 1학년 학생들이 만든 영어 팜플렛의 내용이다.
      Kamakura Festival started about four hundred years ago. In the Kamakura, we pray to the "Suijinsama".
      What is "Suijinsama"?
      Long long time ago, they had a trouble with water. They couldn't get enough water. So, they made a snow
      cave and pray to God for getting water. That god is "Suijinsama".
      Nowadays, children call visitors into the Kamakura. In the Kamakura, you bow to the Suijisama and drink
      Amazake and eat Mochi. By the way, why do they call a snow cave "Kamakura"?
      Because, the form of Kamakura looks like a cooking stove. Japanese cooking stoves were called "Kamado"
      in the old days.

    동네를 가득 덮은 듯한 가마쿠라와 아이들이 주인공인 것 같은 느낌의 이 축제가 특이하다 싶기도 하고,  그냥 눈
    축제의 아류이겠지 생각했었는데, 이렇게 축제의 기원을 알 게 되니 재밌어 졌다. 이런 이유로 사람들은 단결하고
    마을의 생존과 번영이라는 공동의 목적앞에 하나가 되었는지 모르겠다.  물론 지금은 그 이유가 변하기는 하였지만,
    볼거리를 그리고 느낄 거리를 직접 느껴볼 수 있는 좋은 기회였다.

    한편, 보통 Formal Size의 Kamakura는 직경이 4.0m 이며 높이는 3.0m이고, 사람의 출입이 가능한 부분은
    높이 1.3m 너비 0.7m라 한다. どうぞ。どうぞ。。
